Non-Mulesed Wool Heavy Twill Coat
An original high-density twill woven in the Bishu region from non-mulesed wool, with a different number of twists in the warp and weft. The warp is a three-ply yarn and the weft a two-ply yarn, so the twill structure stands out clearly and the cloth gains a firm sense of volume. After dyeing, a clear finish keeps the fabric's natural beauty and drape alive. Using non-mulesed raw material eases the burden on the sheep. (Mulesing is the practice of cutting away part of the skin and flesh around a sheep's hindquarters without anaesthetic, to prevent parasites from breeding in the folds of the skin.)
A coat around above-the-knee length, kept light with a single layer and no lining or facing. The deeply overlapping centre front is a defining feature, and the way the buttons are fastened lets you vary how it is worn. A large tuck at the back allows freedom of arm movement. Alongside the side-slit pockets, there is a zipped pocket sized for a smartphone or wallet. A centre vent is set at the back, and the cuffs can be drawn in with buttons. The right front uses shell buttons, while the overlapping left front uses thinner shell buttons; brass buttons are used for the reinforcement buttons.
