Khadi long haori (plant dyed)
We use khadi made in West Bengal, India, where both the warp and weft are hand-spun and hand-woven. For more information on hand-spinning, please refer to the link to the outer fabric spinning section and the blog of our supplier, CALICO . The unevenness created by hand-spinning and hand-weaving relatively short-fiber desi cotton gives it a texture like a second skin, and is beautiful even when held up to light. The occasional random borders are created by the fine changes in yarn lots used in the handwork, and are also one of our distinctive features.
The edge of the collar is cut from the body and finished with a cotton scalloped edge for a light look. The sleeves can be rolled up to change the look, or you can leave the collar out for a more casual look. There are pockets on both sides and a separate waist string. This is a custom color from Walls and Bridges.
*Because we use hand-woven fabric, there are individual differences in size and texture. Please consider the weaving habits, knots in the thread, and pilling as part of the expression. As it is weaker than machine-woven fabric, please avoid excessive strain. We are also available to answer any questions you may have about care.
*Dyed with natural indigo. The color will become lighter with repeated use. Since there is a possibility of color transfer, please refrain from using it with light-colored items at first, wash it with a neutral detergent, and dry it in the shade. Since it is product dyed, the color and size of each item will vary slightly.
