Gara-spun hemp jacket
The fabric is made of organic cotton mixed with cotton waste for the weft and thick hemp for the warp, and is woven in a plain weave on a traditional Schonherr loom in Oshu. The Schonherr loom is characterized by its slow weaving speed while incorporating air, giving the fabric a soft and natural texture. The yarn spun by the Gara spinning method has a unique knotty feel, and weaving it on this loom creates a texture that is almost like hand-woven fabric. The fabric has a texture that cannot be expressed on modern high-speed looms. This short jacket has raglan sleeves and is characterized by its versatility. The first button can be left open. The selvedge of the fabric woven on the Schonherr loom (the part where the weft turns at the edge of the fabric, which would be cut off on a high-speed loom) is used on the front body and cuffs to symbolically utilize the characteristics of the fabric. The buttons are made of buffalo horn.
