Gara-spun hemp jacket (dark plant dye)
The original fabric is made from a cotton yarn mixed with organic cotton waste for the weft and thick hemp yarn for the warp, woven in a plain weave on a traditional Schonherr loom in Bishu. The Schonherr loom is characterized by its slow weaving speed while incorporating air, giving the fabric a soft and natural texture. The yarn spun using the Gara spinning method has a unique knotty feel, and weaving it on this loom creates a texture that is almost like hand-woven fabric. The fabric has a texture that cannot be expressed on modern high-speed looms.
This short jacket with raglan sleeves is versatile. It can be worn with the first button open. The front and cuffs feature the selvedge of the fabric woven on a Schonherr loom (the part where the weft thread turns on the edge of the fabric, which would be cut off on a high-speed loom), symbolically showcasing the characteristics of the fabric. The buttons are made of buffalo horn.
