Organic Cotton Garabou Jacket (Dark Plant Dye)

An original fabric woven on a Schönherr loom in a chevron twill, using yarn spun by garabou from cotton blended with organic cotton fly for the weft, and silk noil spun from parts of the silk that cannot be used in reeling, such as waste cocoons, for the warp. The knotted character of the garabou yarn, combined with the softness unique to a slow-running Schönherr loom, gives it a texture almost like hand-weaving.

The selvedge produced by the Schönherr loom is used as it is along the collar edge, so the body is cut slightly on the bias, giving a pattern that settles onto the body. The collar can be stood up or folded down, and the sleeves can be folded to any length you like. Sewn with very fine stitches, the reverse is left raw-edged for a fringed effect. It can be worn reversible, with a patch pocket on the reverse side.

Handling Instructions

*The edges of the fabric are left raw. The edges will fray with each use; if this bothers you, trim them with scissors as needed. Please consult us if you are unsure how to deal with it. *Dyed with natural indigo. The colour will fade to a lighter shade with repeated use. As colour transfer may occur, avoid using with light-coloured items at first, wash with a neutral detergent, and dry in the shade. The colour and size will vary slightly from item to item.
