Japanese paper and hemp jacket (plant-dyed)

This is an original fabric using Japanese paper thread for the warp and hemp thread for the weft._ It is said that cloth using Japanese paper already existed in the Nara period, and was used for clothing as "paper cloth," made by tearing paper into thin strips and weaving it._ Today, the technology to process it into thread has advanced, and this tradition continues as lightweight, high-strength Japanese paper thread._ We use OJO from Oji Fiber, a filament thread made by slitting Japanese paper (made from Ecuadorian manila hemp) to less than 1mm and then twisting it._ It is lightweight, has little pilling, and is highly absorbent and strong._ By combining the crispness of the Japanese paper with the suppleness of the hemp, we have achieved a unique texture with both a distinctive wrinkled feel and softness.

This jacket features a double-layered pocket design inspired by the way paper folds._ The corners can be folded back to function as flaps._ The silhouette is generously proportioned in the body and sleeves, allowing for good ventilation._ Combined with the inherent lightness of the fabric, it's comfortable to wear from spring to autumn._ The buttons are made from compressed cotton and are dyed along with the fabric during the garment dyeing process.

Handling Instructions

*Please note that there may be knots and unevenness in the yarn, which are unique characteristics of natural materials. This is because we prioritize texture and use raw materials with uneven fiber lengths, so please consider it as part of the fabric's character. Please be careful not to pull on the knots in the yarn, as this may cause the fabric to tear and create holes. *Please enjoy the unevenness of the plant-dyed color and the changes that come with age. To prevent color transfer, avoid using it with light-colored items, and wash it with a neutral detergent and air dry. Please be careful in handling as it may fade or discolor due to sweat or light, so store it away from sunlight and fluorescent lights. (Walnut) *This item is dyed with natural indigo. The color will gradually lighten with repeated use. Because of the possibility of color transfer, avoid using it with light-colored items initially, and wash with a neutral detergent and dry it in the shade.
