JK-85
Soft hemp jacket
This is an original fabric, with indigo and ink dyes coated on the front and back sides using roller dyeing. Roller dyeing is a method that uses less water and reduces the discharge of dye waste. Applying pressure to the fabric to fix the dye creates a unique luster. The base fabric is made from a soft, hemp-inspired fabric that retains the firmness characteristic of hemp. It is characterized by its softness from the start, reminiscent of regular plain-woven hemp fabric after extended wear. For more information on the history of hemp fabric, please refer to the article by Yoshida Shinichiro, director of the Early Modern Hemp Fabric Research Institute , and for more details on the differences between hemp, ramie, and flax, please refer to the article by Boeken .
This jacket has a relaxed silhouette and is designed for wear from spring through midsummer and into autumn. The base fabric is coated on both the front and back in different colors, allowing the color of the reverse side to show through when folded over. To allow the complex dyeing structure of the fabric to be felt, the front and hem are left raw, allowing the layers of thread and dye to be more directly visible. Zigzag stitching has been added to the front and hem to prevent fraying at the raw edges.
