Lightweight Sashiko-woven jacket (plant-dyed)
This is a double-layered original fabric made by using organic cotton for the warp threads, and ramie and hemp for the weft threads on the surface and back respectively, and then connecting them with thick silk threads to create a sashiko-like pattern. The surface has a light and airy impression due to the organic cotton mixed with the luster of ramie, while the back, which touches the skin, has a cool feeling from the hemp and a soft touch from the cotton. Sashiko originally comes from Japanese handwork, where old cloths were layered and sewn together to reinforce and insulate the fabric. In this fabric, instead of mechanically imitating the irregularity of that handwork, we have designed a unique pattern that utilizes the regular structure that can only be created by machine weaving, creating a rhythm within order.
This jacket features a slightly relaxed silhouette, making it easy to layer over other garments like coats._ It's characterized by a flat pattern design using mostly straight lines for most of its components._ Taking advantage of the fabric's characteristics, the body incorporates a yoke, and the direction of the sashiko stitching varies across different parts._ For practicality as a tool-carrying garment, the pockets are positioned close to the side seams._ The piping tape on the lining uses organic cotton, and the buttons are made from carved white horn.
