Twill weave hemp flat jacket
The warp and weft threads are made of 100% hemp yarn produced by the Italian manufacturer Linificio. Although it is a thick fabric, it is woven in a twill weave, which makes it tightly woven and flexible. Hemp is a strong fiber, but it gradually becomes more comfortable against the skin over time, and you can enjoy the change in texture from hemp to cotton-like. The cool feel that is characteristic of hemp remains even after repeated washing, making it comfortable to wear even in the middle of summer. For more information on the history of hemp cloth, please see the article by Shinichiro Yoshida, director of the Modern Linen Research Institute , and for more information on the differences between hemp, ramie, and flax, please see the article by Boeken .
The pattern is composed almost entirely of linear segments, resulting in a highly planar structure that conforms naturally to a wide range of body types, much like a kimono. A distinctive simplicity in design is achieved by constructing the placket and hem from a single piece of fabric, rather than attaching separate components as is conventional. The buttons, crafted from silver-lip pearl oyster shell, are all attached by hand.
