IROIRO Rag-Weave Jacket
We ordered a special MITTAN colour of the rag-weave (sakiori) cloth made by iroiro zero waste in Jaipur, India. Remnant fabric that would otherwise have been discarded at the factory is torn into strips and used as the weft, woven alternately with ordinary cotton yarn to create a bold ribbed texture.
Almost every part follows a straight-line pattern, giving a very flat construction that, like a kimono, sits naturally on many body types. A distinctive touch is that the front placket and the hem, where separate pieces are usually sewn on, are instead cut in one piece for a simple design.
*As remnant fabric is reused, there are large individual differences in colour. Please also note that weaving steps and slight weaving irregularities are characteristics of the fabric.
