MITTAN 1
This is MITTAN’s first publication focused on repair and re-dyeing.
Through examples from our work, it explores the possibilities of continuing to wear and use clothing over time.
We hope it serves as an opportunity to reconsider the relationship between people and the garments they wear.
Most of the pages feature a distinctive folded structure.
The act of unfolding them—allowing air to enter each time—suggests the way MITTAN’s flat garments transform into three-dimensional forms when worn.
The cover is made from paper blended with charcoal produced from moso bamboo cut from neglected bamboo groves, and all interior pages are printed on recycled paper.
All text is presented in both Japanese and English.
