Nashi Silk Dress
Nasi is a part of the silk that Indian wild silkworms, or tasar silkworms, produce when they hang from a tree. This original fabric is woven in a plain weave using thread spun from nasi at the only silk spun factory in Japan in Shiga, and unrefined fine-count raw silk as the warp. The off-white color is an undyed color. Although it is not used here, please refer to the article by Maki Textile Studio, which provides detailed information about hand-spun nasi thread in India.
Both the weft thread and the warp thread are stronger than normal glossy silk threads, and the fabric has a stiff, crisp texture that changes to a softer, almost denim-like texture with repeated daily wear. The nashi thread is as strong as wool, so it is resilient and does not wear out even with repeated use. The pattern is made almost entirely of straight lines except for the curves at the neckline and sides, and the sleeves, lower body, and gusset are completely rectangular, so that it can be made from kimono rolls. The structure is flat like a kimono, but it becomes three-dimensional when you put your body in it, and the bias-shaped upper body and gathers on the back naturally fit your body. It can also be worn with the front open. There are pockets on both sides and a separate waist string.
*We use delicate fabric that emphasizes the texture of natural materials. Please note that applying too much force may cause the fabric to become distorted. When washing, please wash gently by hand or use a laundry net and use the cleaning cycle on your washing machine.
*Dyed in dark colors. To avoid color transfer, please avoid mixing with light colors. To prevent color fading, use a dry-cleaning detergent and dry in the shade. Due to post-production processing, the color and size of each item may vary slightly. (Dark navy/black)
