Fuzzy hemp wide-leg pants
This original fabric is made using thick hemp threads for both the warp and weft, and is woven in Yamashina, Kyoto, before being brushed on the surface. The brushing process gives it a softer texture than regular hemp fabric, creating a texture that feels natural against the skin. After dyeing, the fuzzy surface reflects light in complex ways, giving the color a richer, more supple appearance. While hemp is an extremely strong fiber, it becomes even more flexible with repeated wear, and the longer it is used, the more its unique texture develops. For more information on the history of hemp cloth, please see the article by Shinichiro Yoshida, director of the Early Modern Linen Research Institute , and for more details on the differences between hemp, ramie, and flax, please see the article by Boeken .
These wide-leg pants have a cool, below-the-knee length. Deep tucks at the waist and darts at the hem create a three-dimensional silhouette. Ample space between the fabric and the body ensures breathability, making them ideal for summer wear. The entire waist belt is made of stretch material, and the pants open at the front. The buttons are nut buttons, which have a low environmental impact.
