Padded Sashiko-Weave Pants

The fabric is an original triple-layer construction: cotton is used for the warp, and a different weft is woven into the face, the middle, and the back. On the face, fine wool is woven at high density to keep out the wind, while on the back, silk noil absorbs moisture well and gives a soft feel against the skin. In the middle layer, single yarns of Spanish wool are floated without being interlaced with the warp, so the yarns keep their full loft and act as padding. Using only natural fibres, the design aims for warmth and comfort that rivals fabrics padded with synthetic wadding. The sashiko pattern visible on the face is expressed through the weave, and silk noil is used here so that the yarn shows character.

Straight-silhouette pants with a slightly low rise. An organic cotton lining runs from the waist to above the knee, but it is deliberately kept short so that you can feel the silk against the skin. So they can be worn for years, the pocket openings and hems are finished with piping for added strength. The waist cord is a braid made of hemp.

Handling Instructions

*This material is prone to changes in dimensions from washing. When washing, use a neutral detergent and hand-wash in lukewarm water at 30 degrees, or use the cleaning cycle on your washing machine. Stretch the garment out fully before drying and it will return to its original dimensions. *This garment uses natural materials with character. Please consider the knots and unevenness in the threads as part of the look. At first, the back will shed some pilling, but this will settle with repeated use. Do not pull hard on any fuzz that appears during wear; simply cut off the parts that bother you.
