kala cotton pants
Khamir is an NGO that aims to promote traditional products and techniques from the Kutch region of India to the world while supporting local artisans. For more information on the kala cotton they produce, please click here . The raw cotton used for kala cotton is the original Helbaceum variety that has not been bred, and it is characterized by its very low environmental impact as it does not require pesticides and requires only a small amount of water. The short-fiber raw cotton is spun on a local machine and woven by artisans in local villages. The yarn is strongly twisted, giving it a natural texture and elasticity, so it naturally fits the body. The occasional random borders are created by changes in the fine yarn lots used in the handmade process, and are also one of the characteristics of the fabric.
The pattern is based on monpe and tatsuke. Although the rise is deep, it is easy to move around in as it allows for freedom of movement, and the steep taper from the knee to the hem can be adjusted by rolling up the pants. The design is simple yet functional, so you can choose the size that suits you best regardless of your body type. The waist string is an original cord made in Uji, Kyoto , and all the sewing, including the overlock sewing, is done using cotton thread.
*Because we use hand-woven fabric, there are individual differences in size and texture. Please consider the weaving habits, knots in the thread, and pilling as part of the expression. As it is weaker than machine-woven fabric, please avoid excessive strain. We are also available to answer any questions you may have about care.
*Dyed in dark colors. Please avoid mixing with light colors to avoid color transfer. To prevent color fading, use a dry-cleaning detergent and dry in the shade. Due to post-production processing, the color and size of each item may vary slightly.
