Kala Cotton Stole
Khamir is an NGO that aims to promote traditional products and techniques from the Kutch region of India to the world while supporting local artisans. For more information on the kala cotton they produce, please click here . The raw cotton used for kala cotton is the original Helbacheum species that has not been bred, and it is characterised by its very low environmental impact as it does not require pesticides and requires only a small amount of water. The short-fibre raw cotton is spun on a local machine and woven by artisans in local villages. The random borders that sometimes appear are created by changes in the fine yarn lots used in the handmade work, and are also one of the characteristics of the fabric. The design is a simple stole, and the tassels on the top and bottom are all made by hand by local people. The yarn is strongly twisted, giving it a natural texture and excellent water absorption and quick-drying properties. The soft texture unique to short fibres also makes it comfortable to use in all seasons.
*Because we use hand-woven fabric, there are individual differences in size and texture. Please consider the weaving habits, knots in the thread, and pilling as part of the expression. As it is weaker than machine-woven fabric, please avoid excessive strain. We are also available to answer any questions you may have about care.
*Dyed in dark colours. Please avoid mixing with light colours to avoid colour transfer. To prevent colour fading, use a dry-cleaning detergent and dry in the shade. Due to post-production processing, the colour and size of each item may vary slightly.
