Lao hand-woven cotton and silk dishcloth
SC-63 Lao Hand-woven Cotton Silk DishclothThis fabric was planned by HPE (Handicraft Promotion Enterprise), organized by Yukiko Tani in Luang Namtha, northern Laos. This hand-woven fabric was made by the local Black Thai ethnic minority, and was inspired by Japanese Tamba cloth, with silk mixed into a cotton base. All of the fabric is dyed with natural dyes, and MITTAN uses this fabric to make products. The scraps that are produced when cutting products are stocked, and are recut to fit the size of the scraps and sewn into dishcloths. There are individual differences in the position of the patchwork, the grain of the fabric, and the front and back.
