SH-151
Soft hemp pullover
This is an original fabric with indigo and ink dyes coated on the front and back using roller dyeing. Roller dyeing is a method that uses less water and reduces the discharge of dye wastewater. By applying pressure to the fabric while fixing the dye, a unique luster is created. The base fabric is soft yet retains the characteristic firmness of hemp. Its distinctive feature is that it has the softness of hemp cloth that has been worn for a long time, right from the start. For more information on the history of hemp cloth, please refer to the article by Shinichiro Yoshida, director of the Modern Hemp Cloth Research Institute, and for the differences between hemp, ramie, and flax, please refer to the article by BOKEN.
This is a loosely fitted shirt that can be worn casually._ Taking advantage of the fabric's characteristic of having different colors on the front and back, it's designed to be reversible._ Even when the indigo color on the reverse is shown, the placement and stitching of each part are carefully considered to minimize visibility of the black color on the front._ The buttons are large, flat buttons (taiko-gata buttons) which allow for the reversible design._ These buttons, which require handwork by artisans, have seen a decline in demand in recent years, and the number of artisans who can make them is limited._ By incorporating this design element, we hope to contribute to the continuation of this traditional technique.
