SN Charkha Kala Cotton Pullover Small (Plant-dyed)
Khamir is an NGO that aims to promote traditional products and techniques from the Kutch region of India to the world while supporting local artisans. For more information on the kala cotton they produce, please click here . For more information, please click here . The raw cotton used for kala cotton is the original Helbacheum species that has not been bred, and it is characterized by its very low environmental impact as it does not require pesticides and requires only a small amount of water. SN stands for single needle, and is the name of a portable spinning machine for home use invented by Gandhi. Click here to see how the yarn is spun. While amvirka , which is more productive than single needle, is currently mainstream, the yarn is spun little by little by the women of the local villages and woven by hand. The random borders that sometimes appear are created by changes in the fine yarn lots used in handmade work, and are also one of the characteristics. The uneven texture of the kala cotton yarn makes it comfortable against the skin, and it does not stick to your skin even when you sweat, so you can wear it comfortably even in the summer. The split raglan sleeves and shorter length ensure ample freedom of movement, and the collar stays up nicely even after repeated washing, giving a more neat impression than a T-shirt.
*Because we use hand-woven fabric, there are individual differences in size and texture. Please consider the weaving habits, knots in the thread, and pilling as part of the expression. As it is weaker than machine-woven fabric, please avoid excessive strain. We are also available to answer any questions you may have about care.
*Dyed with natural indigo. The color will become lighter with repeated use. Since there is a possibility of color transfer, please refrain from using it with light-colored items at first, wash it with a neutral detergent, and dry it in the shade. Since it is product dyed, the color and size of each item will vary slightly.
