Khadi shirt (dark plant dye) (reinforced)
We use khadi made in West Bengal, India, where both the warp and weft are hand-spun and hand-woven. For more information on hand-spinning, please refer to the link to the outer fabric spinning section and the blog of our supplier, CALICO . The unevenness created by hand-spinning and hand-weaving relatively short-fibre desi cotton gives it a texture like a second skin, and is beautiful even when held up to light. The occasional random borders are created by the fine changes in yarn lots used in the handwork, and are also one of our distinctive features.
The shirt is proposed as a Western clothing that constitutes modern ethnic clothing. The construction follows the rules of Western clothing, but the design is stripped away as much as possible, and the pattern is made based on functionality. Specifically, the sleeve cap is tucked and the bottom of the sleeve is set high to ensure movement around the arms, and the yoke on the back is tucked rather than gathered to ensure movement in the back. In addition, instead of the adhesive interlining used in normal shirts, the outer fabric is fluffed, and all the sewing threads are cotton thread No. 30, which gives it a soft finish, so it can be worn comfortably even against bare skin. The placket is made using fabric selvedge to convey the texture of hand-woven fabric, and the buttons are all hand-sewn using freshwater pearl. Reinforcement stitching has been added in advance, with fine machine stitching at ten places that would otherwise fray with long-term wear. (A different shell is used than in SH-03.)
*Because we use hand-woven fabric, there are individual differences in size and texture. Please consider the weaving habits, knots in the thread, and pilling as part of the expression. As it is weaker than machine-woven fabric, please avoid excessive strain. We are also available to answer any questions you may have about care.
*Dyed with natural indigo. The colour will become lighter with repeated use. Since there is a possibility of colour transfer, please refrain from using it with light-coloured items at first, wash it with a neutral detergent, and dry it in the shade. Since it is product dyed, the colour and size of each item will vary slightly.
